Implementing EHR Effectively

Electronic health records (EHRs) have the ability to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare when implemented successfully. However, EHRs have become a hot-button issue today as some medical staff claim these systems are frustrating to use and hinder their work. When medical staff aren’t trained in the use of EHRs, this can unfortunately become the case despite the broad range of potential benefits in making the switch.

To address the concerns of healthcare organizations, the Health Resources and Services Administration offers specific steps for successfully implementing an EHR. In the infographic below, created for Ohio University’s Online MHA Program, you can find these steps illustrated along with EHR implementation stats and a definition of meaningful use.
